AmyBrooke Muir – Twin Mom Interview
Meet Super MoM (Mother of Multiples) AmyBrooke Lowrey Muir – mom of identical twin girls Remi and Reese.
I stumbled upon this picture of AmyBrooke on Instagram doing a handstand at 34 weeks pregnant with her twin girls and I was instantly smitten and intrigued:
AmyBrooke’s zeal and outlook on life is contagious, just one look at her Instagram page and it’s obvious that this Super MoM is a lover of life, family and healthy living. Her inspiring posts are a ray of sunshine and I can’t help but smile widely when I see her photos.
Despite our interactions only being virtual up to this point, she has made a positive impact on my outlook as a mother and so I was delighted when she agreed to an interview with me!
Here is how my interview with AmyBrooke went:
Describe your twins’ personality Twitter-style (in 140 characters or less)
Remi is sweet and super chill. Reese is sassy and adventurous. Together they are the happiest babies EVER!
Do you feel pressured to be Super MoM?
I don’t feel pressure at all. Many of my friends stress about little things but as long as my littles are happy, I am fine. I pray often and desire all three of my babies to love the Lord and be kind people. If I can set an example for them then I think that is a super MoM!
Take care of yourself. If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy! That could not be more true. I have always allowed myself “AmyBrooke time”. Even if it is ten minutes on the patio or going to get a pedicure, moms need to have a little alone time EVERY day.
What are some tips/tricks you would share with a new (or pregnant) mom of twins?
Don’t listen to everyone. There are so many theories out there you could drive yourself crazy. Listen to your heart, you are usually right. It’s a mommy thing.
Eat well! Fuel your body with lots of fruits and veggies to power yourself through your busy days. You are also setting an example for your kids. When you eat well, you feel better and have more energy……you will NEED it!
Relax! Go outside. Go to the gym. Go shopping. Do what makes you happy. You are a mom but you are still YOU. Don’t lose your identity.
Which myth about twins (or raising twins) would you like to challenge?
“It gets easier as they get older” is the funniest myth I’ve heard. My girls are only 10 months old but I know it is only going to get harder. Newborns and infants are so easy because they don’t walk or talk. Reese keeps trying to crawl and I keep putting her back on her booty. I’m not ready for that stage! I am already running constantly keeping up with my three year old.
I LOVE being a twin mommy!!!!! It is the biggest blessing I could have ever imagined. We were not expecting twins. In fact, we really only wanted two babies but God had other plans for our family.
Tell me a little bit more about your girls or share something funny they’ve done recently:
I enjoy watching them interact. They are best friends. They know how to bug each other but also how to soothe each other. The other night I walked in to check on them before I went to bed and Reese’s thumb was in Remi’s mouth. I can only imagine that Remi was crying and Reese thought, “okay sister, shut up, suck on this.” It is the most beautiful relationship I have ever witnessed.
They have their own little language which is fun to listen to. Their personalities are so different I can only imagine the conversations they are having!
My favorite part is watching my son interact with them. They light up and giggle every time they see him. Each morning Raylan climbs into their crib and they all three laugh and play together. They are my world and I feel so blessed!!!
